Kakamega Residents Acquire Assistive Devices

Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa presided over the County distribution exercise of assistive devices to Persons Living with Disabilities an initiative aimed at improving their livelihoods by addressing challenges of inclusivity, mobility, communication, and accessibility.

The distributed items encompassed wheelchairs, elbow crutches, prostheses, hearing aids, sunscreen lotions and protective hats.

Governor Barasa said his administration will ensure a more supportive environment for all citizens living with disabilities in Kakamega County.

The event also saw the County Government sign an MOU with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, the inauguration of the Kakamega County Persons with Disabilities Committee and the commissioning of the Matete Sports Ground.

Present were Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, Lugari MP Hon. Nabii Nabwera, CECMs led by Mr Mophat Mandela and MCAs led by Majority Leader Hon. Philip Maina, Chairperson of the Social Services Committee Hon. Modesta Auka and the host Hon. Pius Barlex.
