Eldoret: Athletes Worried on the State of Kipchoge Stadium

Former renowned athletes are worried about the state of Kipchoge stadium, Uasin Gishu County despite it being an athlete’s region.

Benjamin Limo former 5000 world record holder said Kipchoge stadium is in a worrying state leaving the athletes with no place to train.

“Kipchoge stadium is in a bad state, it has stalled for more than ten years. As former athletes we want the government to make haste to see the athletes find a place to do their training,” said Limo.

urged the County Government to devolve the stadiums or build sports academies at ward levels so as to nurture talents from the grassroots.

“We want the stadia or sports academies to be constructed inward levels so that untapped talents can be identified and nurtured “, said the former athlete while speaking to the press.

The renowned athlete urged National Government to honor them by naming public entities such as roads, hospitals, and social halls after them.

“We want our names to be on the public entities such as roads hospitals social halls and others in honour of our efforts in raising the Country’s flag”, said Limo

However, the athlete called on the athletes to refrain from doing so as to run clean for long and bring the best in the athletics family as it was at their time more than ten years ago.
