Youths Urged to be Peace Ambassadors

Youths in Uasin Gishu County have been urged to collect, report information, early warning and
response in the right manner.

According to Anastasia Some peace Director in the Office of the Interior and Coordination Uasin Gishu County, youths should come out to collect and share information that will bring unity to the nation.

“I want to call upon youths across the country to be peace ambassadors, builders since they are a tool used in content creation in the social media platforms by communities and even politicians in Kenya,” said Some

She spoke in a meeting organized by the NCCK Uasin Gishu branch that brought together youth from six sub-counties.

“We are advising youth to use the social media platforms in the right way while sharing information to bring peace in society”, added Some.

She noted that they are creating awareness among youth by organizing ball game tournaments, Nyumba Kumi, and churches to promote peace in Uasin Gishu at large where the County was previously known as the hot spot of violence after the post-election violence in 2007/2008

“We are reaching to youth through games and educating them to avoid conflict and violence in the community that makes a country lose lives and resources”, said some

She asked the boda boda operators to be a tool for bringing peace in the country to help curb the insecurity in the society and themselves.

“We are calling on boda boda as a transport sector to help in promoting peace and report any insecurity they come across to the security bodies,” said security ambassador
