Kiwato Vocational Training Centre (KVTC) Holds Its First Graduation
Kiwato Vocational Training Centre (KVTC) held its first graduation and thanksgiving ceremony, graced by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim.
The ceremony celebrated the remarkable achievements of 137 graduates in disciplines such as plumbing, hairdressing, beauty therapy, garment making, and masonry, spanning the years 2017 to 2023, who completed their vocational training programs.
Governor Chelilim expressed his appreciation for the pivotal role KVTC plays in nurturing and empowering the youth of Uasin Gishu County.
“I want to acknoledge the institution’s unwavering commitment to maintaining high standards of vocational education and training and its critical contribution to fostering economic development and social progress,” said the Uasin Gishu governor.
As a testament to his unwavering support for KVTC, Governor Chelilim announced a generous allocation of 33 million Kenyan shillings for infrastructure development at the institution.
“This substantial funding will enable the construction of much-needed administrative blocks and the procurement of essential tools and equipment, significantly enhancing KVTC’s capacity to deliver world-class vocational training,” he added.
Governor Chelilim proposed the allocation of 40% of the bursary fund to provide financial assistance to BTC students.
” This bold initiative aims to remove financial barriers and ensure that all students, regardless of their socio-economic background, have access to quality education and training opportunities,” he said.
Governor Chelilim appealed to the diverse tapestry of tribes living in Uasin Gishu County to unite to promote peace, unity, and mutual respect. He eloquently articulated the transformative power of education and training in promoting economic development and social progress and emphasized the importance of cooperation and inclusiveness in building a thriving and harmonious community.
Governor Chelilim’s message of unity and cooperation resonated deeply with the participants and served as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility to build a better future for Uasin Gishu County.
