Religious Leaders Call for Urgent Action to Prevent Conflicts in Uasin Gishu County
Religious leaders from Uasin Gishu County have held a meeting to discuss the importance of dialogue and mediation in promoting peace and cohesion. They urged the county assembly, county government, and all stakeholders to take immediate action to address the factors that lead to conflict and violence.
Pioneer Yasim Hassan Sharif, representing SUPKEM from Uasin Gishu, emphasized the need for both political and religious leaders to come together to promote peace. He stressed that leaders should preach peace and work towards creating a peaceful environment before the upcoming general election.
NCCK Chair Solomon Chelal echoed this sentiment, adding that government leaders and all stakeholders have a responsibility to empower the people of Uasin Gishu County economically, socially, and politically. He believes that this empowerment will foster peace and stability in the community.
The initiative to promote peace in Uasin Gishu County is part of a larger campaign by NCCK, KCCB, and SUPKEM, which is funded by USAID. The goal of the campaign is to help Kenya become a more united and peaceful country.
