Trans Nzoia Health Facilities Credited by NHIF to Ease Access to Medical Care
In a bid to enhance healthcare accessibility across Trans Nzoia County, the administration has successfully accredited 89 health facilities with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Governor George Natembeya, speaking today at Lukhome playing ground, emphasized the pivotal role this move plays in bolstering health services for residents.
Governor Natembeya affirmed his administration’s dedication to elevating health standards by ensuring adequate medication, non-pharmaceutical supplies, and staffing in all facilities.
He highlighted the critical shift, stating, “All health facilities in the county are now NHIF compliant, eradicating the need for residents to travel long distances in search of accredited hospitals.”
The governor urged residents to ensure NHIF compliance by exchanging one bag of maize (90kgs) at any health center to secure annual cover for their families.
He emphasized that this initiative aims to prevent families from resorting to asset disposal for medical expenses, noting, “Our objective is to shield our people from the brink of poverty due to healthcare costs.”
Natembeya stressed the significance of NHIF coverage, stating, “Families are one disease away from poverty,” underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring widespread NHIF coverage.
Beyond healthcare, the governor outlined plans for sports development, revealing intentions to purchase land for additional soccer fields across all 25 wards.
He emphasized the county’s abundant talent pool, expressing determination to nurture these talents and establish competitive soccer teams, both for men and women, to represent the county nationally and internationally.
Natembeya further urged county assembly members to allocate specific funds to enhance sports standards in their respective wards.
Additionally, he cautioned the youth against engaging in detrimental activities like alcohol consumption and early sexual encounters. He urged parents and guardians to take proactive roles in guiding the youth away from such vices.
Furthermore, the governor pledged to create more job opportunities while ensuring broader access to education. The administration has earmarked funds to fully support children scoring 250 marks and above, covering their education for four years.
