Hundreds of students Benefit From Soy NGCDF Scholarship Programme

Soy Member of Parliament David Kiplagat presided over the launch of the Soy Constituency NGCDF scholarship program.

The Soy legislator said for the entire society to become equal it needs to start with education

“This year, we have successfully been able to fully sponsor about 75 needy students from across the Constituency with a whole four years school fees To Loreto Matunda.60 boys have also been sponsored to join the schools they have been admitted,” he said during the launch.

Kiplagat noted that if everyone was provided with the same opportunities for Education, there would be fewer gaps in the social class.

“We are also finalizing on sponsoring between 50-100 students per school in all our 46 secondary schools that would bring to about 3000 vulnerable students,” he added.

“As a dedicated Constituency in Education, I remain unwavering in my commitment to championing the education for our students. Together, we forge a path where empowered minds shape a brighter tomorrow,” he added.

David Koskei Chairman of NGCDF Soy Constituency said the scholarship caters for the entire four years.
“Those students who received admission letters to join National schools and the extra County schools, we will pay for them the whole amount,” he said.

“We are also going to the next batch of day schools where we will give them the whole four-year scholarship. We will take 50 students from each day school identified by bursars.
46-day schools will benefit from the same,” he added.

Hillary Busolo Chairperson of Soy Bursary said the exercise was transparent and only needy students benefited.

“The process was transparent and fair, what we did was we used the IEBC portal where we keyed in the parent’s ID No and the year of birth and it was easy for us to get where their voting station. We only gave the scholarships to those in Soy Constituency,” he said.

“We thereafter went to the community where we met chiefs, and Nyumba Kumi officials to verify if they know the people,” he added.
