Investment Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano EGH has taken a moment to share with us more about the Africa Continental Free Trade Area

“The Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) serves as a catalyst for regional economic integration and growth, playing a pivotal role in propelling Africa forward.
Pleased to meet Secretary General of @AfCFTA, H.E @MeneWamkele, on the margins of the 13th #AfCFTA Council of Ministers meeting.
Our discussions encompassed the strides made in AfCFTA implementation.

I am optimistic about the extensive opportunities emerging for Kenya and the entire African continent.
By removing barriers to trade in Africa, the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) aims to significantly enhance intra-Africa trade, emphasizing value-added production and trade across all service sectors of the continent’s economy.

This morning, I joined fellow Trade Ministers at the opening ceremony of the 13th AfCFTA Council of Ministers meeting in Durban, South Africa.

The AfCFTA stands as a high-ambition trade agreement, progressively bringing together all 55 member states of the African Union. Covering a market of more than 1.3 billion people, it encompasses critical areas of Africa’s economy, such as digital trade, investment, trade in goods and services, among others.

Key issues to be discussed include rules of origin in textiles and clothing, automobiles as well as digital trade.
