The house of the late marathoner Kiptum is on the final touches ahead of his burial on Friday 23rd February 2024

The house the government is building for the family of the late marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum is in the final touches.

Kiptum died with his Rwandese coach Gervais Hakizimana in a tragic accident at Kaptagat along the Eldoret-Eldama ravine road.

He had plans of building a house for his family before his demise.

The construction is still ongoing and today marks the 4th since the exercise started.

The house is expected to be ready before his burial on 23rd February 2024.

However, Kenyans on social media criticized the government’s moves saying they could have done something better than just a house that looks like a warehouse

“I am 100% sure if Kelvin Kipum rose today and was given a chance to either inherit this house or put a real classy one, he would opt for the latter, this is a kind of a warehouse or a godown,” said the lawyer Wahome Thuku.

The late was to compete in the NN Rotterdam marathon in April with Eliud Kipchoge who won the 10 marathons he entered between 2014 and 2019.

President William Ruto, his deputy Rigathi Gachagua local and international leaders among others are expected to grace his Kiptum’s final send off.
