Help President Ruto Succeed in War Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse-Epalat

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation Senior Radio News Reporter Western Region, Kennedy Epalat, has urged religious leaders to help President Dr William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in the war against alcohol and drug abuse across the country.

Addressing mourners during the burial of his brother-in-law James Okitoi alias Olembo, 60, at Kamalas village, Mwari sub location Teso North Sub county on Saturday, Epalat cited the President’s ” Mambo ni matatu,” clarion call saying it’s in the bible.

” The Iteso community should consider themselves privileged to have one of their sons, Dr Anthony Omerikwa, as the Chief Executive Officer NACADA. They should equally support him by fighting the vice as a show of appreciation to Kenya Kwanza Government for appointing him to that position,” Epalat said.

He urged religious leaders to remind their flock on the contents of Ezra 7:26, which resonates well on the President’s call on Mambo ni matatu.

He called on the political leadership in Busia County to support the deceased children to complete their university education. Epalat noted that Kelvin Epalat who is a teacher at SA Aboloi Secondary School, has authored three Kiswahili books but can’t afford the cost of publishing them for purposes of the current CBC syllabus.

He thanked Teso North MP Oku Kaunya for allocating Ksh26,000, for university fees of one of the sons who is pursuing statistics at Machakos Technical University and urged the local MCA Joseph Eseme to also consider such students in his Bursary allocation.

Epalat thanked the Board of Management of Archbishop Wabukala Secondary in Bungoma County for offering to carter for the deceased daughter Susan Asikute’s second term fees and other necessary levies if any.

He was addressing mourners during the burial of James Ekitoi Etori alias Olembo. He was the brother inlaw
to Kennedy Epalat of KBC Kisumu.

Olembo worked as a subordinate staff member at KCB Kimilili, Webuye, and Bungoma before he joined Akamba Services as a clerk.

Because of his hardwork and determination, he was promoted to Chief Executive Officer position in the same company.Olembo is blessed with six children and five grandchildren.

The deceased sister described her late brother as a determined father who educated his children with zeal. His harshness was to take care of his family, describing him as her safety stop.
