Cartels sell fake fertilizer plotting to ruin government plans on food security ,Kirinyaga MP Njeri Maina Says
Kirinyaga Women Representative Hon. Njeri Maina has harshly condemned cartels who are selling fake fertilizer in plot to ruin Kenya Kwanza Administration reputation. The critics who are forcing Agriculture CS Hon. Mithika Linturi and his counter part from Ministry of Trade Hon Rebecca Miano to resign over the fertilizer scandal.
Speaking during an event in Kisii on Saturday, March 23, Njeri condemned the sale of fake fertilizer, accusing the government critics of running the cartels.
“People are selling fake fertilizers and they want to ruin the government’s reputation. They thought we can’t support farmers to produce food,” she stated.
Those people who were claiming the subsidized fertilizers will not work have come together as cartels to sell the fake fertilizers.”
The law maker further called on President William Ruto to crack down on the cartels, who were interfering with the government’s plan to provide food security for Kenyans.
“The president said mambo ni matatu. I urge the president to deal with those cartels because as a country we won’t stay and watch people derail our plans,” she said
She was responding to Azimio la Umoja allies led by Minority leader Hon. Opiyo Wandayi who called for President to fire Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi and Trade CS Rebecca Miano.
Njeri also cautioned against doctors misusing taxpayers funds by establishing parallel private clinics, this follows after doctor’s strike saying doctors should work professional and serve delivery without asking demands.
“We know there are doctors employed in public hospitals and instead of serving patients they are operating private hospitals,” she noted.
The Advocate of the high court of Kenya also implored health workers to resume their duties, highlighting the risks the strike posed to people’s lives.
