Harvest of Hope Africa (HOHA) FC at the weekend held Soy United to a barren draw in a high tempo FKF Division II League zone A match, played at Ivugwi grounds in Kakamega County.

The match officiated by Michael Suwanga saw the two teams register a goalless draw in full time despite high expectations from either side.

The first half of the game was dominated by HOHA FC launching constant and dangerous attacks on the home team, but none of the efforts bore fruits as three shots by HOHA striker Mark Ekael were fired off target.

Soy FC goalkeeper Kaunda Neto was called to task when Oscar Masiga fired a crucial shot on target in the closing minutes of the first half.

Soy United FC carried the better part of the second half, ensuring HOHA were pushed on the defensive most of the second half.

The hosts came close to getting the breakthrough when a deflected shot on target was parried away by the unrelenting HOHA goalkeeper Wilson Wabwire, whose hawkeyes were, glued on the travelling ball.

The second near chance incident was when a header by the determined Soy strikers found the HOHA defence flatfooted, bouncing back the crossbar, sealing their chance of finding the net.

HOHA FC Head Coach Dennis Bwire said the compact defense set by his players ensured the opponents played on the flanks, preventing them from securing a goal despite the unrelenting attack on their home soil.

Bwire, while addressing the press after the match, expressed optimism that the team will register a win in the upcoming fixture to be played against Webuye Sportiff FC, at Busende grounds in Matayos.

Soy United FC Head Coach Samwel Twago attributed the draw to poor finishing by his forwards, adding that his team created several crosses that were not converted to goals by the players.

“There were so many crosses that went to waste. I expect my players to work extra hard and have a positive mind as we prepare to face Muyayi FC in our upcoming fixture,” he said.

The Chairman HOHA FC Jacquesh Papai said, despite injuries, the players displayed a wonderful game considering that away fixtures are usually difficult.

“I love the spirit of the players. We will go back to the drawing board to focus on which areas to improve for the team to register a win in the next match.”

Papai added that the team remains focused, underscoring the importance of HOHA FC fans turning up in large numbers to cheer their team.

HOHA FC currently sits at position 6 with 26 points, while Soy United FC is in 2nd position with 31 points on the FKF Division II League zone A standings.
