Kocholia Leeds, Koteko FC Receive Full Sporting Kit From Interior PS Omolo

Teso North Sub Branch League participants Kocholia Leeds FC and Koteko FC, which is set to join the sub branch league next season, today received full sporting kit from Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo.

The fully kitted uniforms were donated by Dr Omollo’s Sports Cordinator Michael Odari on behalf of the PS at the ceremony held at St Joseph’s Kocholia Secondary School grounds in Malaba South Ward.

Others in attendance included Deputy County Commissioner Suba, Sebastian Okiring, Malaba South Member of the County Assembly Bonface Mamai, FKF Busia Branch Secretary General Reuben Olita, and Teso North Sub Branch chairman Victor Ochakala.

Mr Okiring, the former Chief of Staff in the County Government of Busia, thanked the PS for accedding to his request to help the two clubs which were in dire need.

The DCC urged Mr Odari to prevail upon the PS to have his education counterpart to expedite the release of Ksh72m to construct a multipurpose administration block at Kocholia Secondary school to help the school better its academic performance.

Odari described Dr. Omollo as very organized, focused, and a man of few words. I urge you to work with the government and to support the PS, adding that the PS will also consider the request of the two clubs to avail them with boots.

Apart from each team getting full uniforms, the two teams also received a ball each, with the two captains also getting armbands to help identify them while in the field of play.

Hon Mamai thanked the players for their discipline , noting that Malaba South is the first ward in the Western Region to receive uniforms and balls from Dr Omollo. He promised to support Koteko FC register for the sub branch league.

Kocholia Leeds coach Collins Ochodi said their most undoing is lack of First Aid kit, urging Dr Omollo to sponsor aspiring coaches and referees to offer training to them to give them alternative livelihoods.

Koteko captain Constant Wabwile said their major constraint was lack of a ball, but with this challenge now over, we are sending an appeal to well-wishers to help register the team for the sub branch league next season.

On his part, George Omuse said Kocholia Leeds needs a car wash machine to help the club meet its obligations, including transport and referee payments. Odari pledged to meet the demands of the club within one month.

Mr Ochakala thanked Mr Okiring for pushing his boss to have the two clubs receive a set of uniforms each, calling for more donors given that Teso North has over 30 clubs participating in various cadre of leagues.

” It’s unfortunate that Koteko FC, despite their impressive performance in tournaments they are not participating in the sub branch league, calling on local leaders to join hands and support the team,” Ochakala said.

Kocholia Leeds manager Alex Osike said transport challenges continue to impact negatively on the club with the club sometimes trekking foru about 50km to honourh away matches, adding that they sometimes fail to honour matches over failure to raise Ksh2000 referees fees.
