Eldoret National Polytechnic Hosts KATTI National Ball Games Season Two

The Eldoret National Polytechnic is abuzz with excitement as it plays host to the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutes (KATTI) National Ball Games Season Two.

This prestigious event has drawn participation from technical training institutes across the country, showcasing the best of young talent in various ball games.

In his opening address, Charles Koech, Chief Principal of Eldoret National Polytechnic also vice National chair KATTI warmly welcomed all the participating schools. “We have teams from Mount Kenya West, Mount Kenya East, Northern Kenya, Nairobi region, Coast Western, Lake region, KATTI Northrift, and KATTI South Rift. This event provides a valuable platform for students to showcase their talents,” he stated.

Mr. Mibei Joseph, Chief Principal of Ziwa Technical Training Institute and Chair of Sports and Regulations at KATTI, highlighted the significance of the event. “This is one of our annual events, referred to as Season Two of the National Ball Games. We are grateful to the Eldoret National Polytechnic for hosting us and providing an opportunity for various regions to compete in soccer, basketball, and other events. Our aim is to identify and nurture talents, aligning with the Kenya Kwanza government’s focus on youth talent development,” he explained.

The event promises to be a thrilling display of skill and sportsmanship, with participants competing in both men’s and women’s categories. The games, which include soccer and basketball, will be played across various fields, with the goal of fostering talent that could potentially excel beyond the national level.

Rugut Michael, Regional Director for Northrift, speaking on behalf of the Principal Secretary of the State Department of TVET, emphasized the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in national development. “The teams here represent the best from their regions. With nearly 220 TVET institutions across the country, we believe that TVET is the cornerstone of development and a vital vehicle for achieving Vision 2030.”


As the event unfolds, participants and spectators alike are set to experience the best of Kenyan youth sportsmanship. The favorable weather adds to the optimism, ensuring that the games proceed smoothly.

All eyes are on the teams, with everyone eager to see who will emerge victorious in this celebration of talent and dedication.
