In a bid to foster a supportive academic environment, The Eldoret National Polytechnic recently emphasized the importance of mental health during its induction session for first-year students. Chief Principal Mr. Charles Koech highlighted that mental well-being is crucial for the academic success of students at the institution.

Addressing the incoming students, Mr. Koech underscored the availability of internal counseling services, urging students to utilize these resources before seeking external help. “Whenever we have issues, even before you look for counselors out there, note that we have counselors amongst us who can support you,” Mr. Koech assured the students.

The two-day induction session, according to Mr. Koech, was designed to equip new students with essential knowledge for their academic journey and to help them settle comfortably into campus life.

Brian Kiptoo, Chairman of the peer and counseling team, emphasized the significance of the induction program, particularly for newcomers who may face challenges adjusting to new environments. Kiptoo encouraged students to reach out for support whenever needed. “I would like to invite every student going through hard times to visit our offices or approach me as your peer,” Kiptoo offered.

The induction session aimed not only to orient students with the institution’s culture but also to create awareness about the available support systems for mental health. It serves as a crucial step in ensuring that students transition smoothly into their college life.

The Eldoret National Polytechnic continues to prioritize the holistic well-being of its students, setting a precedent for other educational institutions in the region.
