Governor Natembeya Criticizes MPs Who Voted for the Finance Bill, Addresses Resource Allocation and Community Unity

Governor George Natembeya of an unspecified region spoke out strongly against unequal resource distribution and criticized Members of Parliament (MPs) who supported a rejected finance bill during a fundraiser event at Namanjalala New Life Church on Sunday. Natembeya attributed the current unrest in the country to disparities in resource allocation, highlighting a stark example where Kikuyu constituency received KSh. 1.5 billion for road construction, vastly overshadowing the KSh. 200 million allocated for the entire western region.

The governor accused MPs who voted in favor of the contentious finance bill of hypocrisy, noting that they knowingly passed legislation that disadvantaged ordinary citizens. He emphasized their insincerity by pointing out that these same MPs applauded the President’s decision to reject the bill after its passage.

In his address, Governor Natembeya urged the Luhya community to foster unity with other ethnic groups to enhance the western region’s political leverage within the national leadership. He underscored the importance of consolidating votes to strengthen bargaining power and ensure equitable representation.

Highlighting his administration’s initiatives, Natembeya announced that KSh. 80 million had been allocated in the new financial year for “Kazi Mashinani,” a program designed to provide employment opportunities to youth, who would begin receiving payments imminently. He also outlined plans to bolster the Nawiri Fund, aimed at economically empowering vulnerable groups by providing capital for government tender contracts.

Further community-focused initiatives were revealed, including the impending equipping of a maternity wing at Namanjalala Dispensary to enhance local healthcare services, with plans for additional staff recruitment.

Accompanying Governor Natembeya at the event were local leaders and officials, including Area MCA Keffa Were, Roads CEC Jackson Amboka, Governance Chief Officer Sammy Sichangi, PSB Member Edward Kitur, Businessman Eng. Kamau Mukiri, Communications Director Dr. Felix Sialo, and the Governor’s Personal Assistant Emmanuel Wamalwa.

Governor Natembeya’s remarks underscored a commitment to addressing socio-economic disparities through policy and community engagement, aiming to foster unity and empowerment within the region.
