In a bid to quell rising tensions, Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Bii has joined forces with local leaders and stakeholders to urge youth across the county to prioritize peace. Following recent protests that resulted in significant economic losses, Governor Bii, alongside representatives from various sectors including religious, business, and community groups, convened a crucial meeting at the county offices.

The gathering underscored the importance of dialogue over discord, especially in addressing grievances and shaping policy decisions affecting the youth. Just days after nationwide protests highlighted feelings of exclusion among young people, the governor emphasized the need for peaceful means to resolve disputes.

“Peaceful dialogue is key to progress,” Governor Bii stated, addressing concerns raised by the youth regarding their role in decision-making processes. “We hear your voices and are committed to addressing your concerns.”

Business leaders led by Chamber of Commerce Uasin Gishu County Chairman Willy Kenei, who also suffered losses during the unrest, echoed the call for peaceful demonstrations, stressing that economic progress hinges on stability. The meeting culminated in a united appeal to Uasin Gishu’s youth to embrace peaceful methods in articulating their demands, reassuring them that their issues are being taken seriously.

Governor Bii remains optimistic about a constructive path forward, ensuring that the voices of the youth are integral to shaping a prosperous future for Uasin Gishu County.
