In a landmark event at Eldoret National Polytechnic, newly elected student leaders have pledged to uphold integrity and ethical leadership as they assume their roles in the student union. The induction ceremony, held earlier this week, saw Chief Principal Mr. Charles Koech emphasizing the importance of honesty and accountability in leadership.

Addressing the nine elected members of The Eldoret National Polytechnic Students Union (TENPSU) and two nominated leaders, Mr. Koech highlighted the responsibility of leaders to differentiate between feasible and unrealistic promises made during campaigns. “It is essential to maintain honesty in leadership. If a promise is impossible to fulfill, it is better to say no rather than to give false assurances,” Mr. Koech advised.

The ceremony also underscored the transition from political campaigning to effective leadership, urging the student leaders to cultivate skills that prioritize the welfare of the student body. Mr. Koech commended the spiritual leadership training facilitated by mentor Alfayo Maiyo, in which both the newly elected leaders and members of the Electoral Board participated. “Today, I had the privilege of attending the spiritual leadership class alongside our new leaders. I was pleased to see their active engagement and eagerness to learn,” Mr. Koech remarked.

The induction session aimed to equip the student leaders with essential values such as transparency, accountability, and service. The newly elected leaders expressed their commitment to applying these principles in their tenure, promising to serve their peers with diligence and fairness.

In response to the induction, one of the elected leaders, speaking on behalf of the group, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and vowed to lead with integrity. “We are honored to have been elected to represent our fellow students. We pledge to uphold the values instilled in us and work tirelessly for the betterment of our institution,” the leader stated.

The ceremony marks a significant step in fostering a culture of ethical leadership at Eldoret National Polytechnic, ensuring that student interests remain at the forefront of decision-making. As the new leaders embark on their responsibilities, they are poised to steer the institution towards a future guided by integrity and effective governance.

The induction ceremony concluded with a sense of optimism and determination among the student leaders, signaling a promising start to their term. With the support of the administration and the student body, they are ready to enact positive change and uphold the values they have embraced.

This event signifies not just a change in leadership but a commitment to excellence and ethical standards at Eldoret National Polytechnic, setting a precedent for future leaders to follow.
