Chairman of Vijana Na Kazi UDA David Maina Urges Youths to Turn in Large Numbers in the Tuesday’s Polls
With one day left to the General Election on August 9th, David Maina Chairman of Vijana Na Kazi UDA is urging every registered youth voter to turn up early and exercise their democratic right to determine their future.
According to Maina, the youth are more politically conscious and active than previous generations. The age group of 18-34 comprises 30% of Kenya’s total population but they made up an impressive 39% of IEBC’s total registered voters. The youth leader further iterated that the youth is not a swing vote in 2022. He expounds that the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, clearly and simply explained by Deputy President William Ruto, is indeed a Youth Manifesto.
William Ruto’s first agenda is Agriculture which besides reducing food prices and the cost of living, will also create jobs for the youth who comprise the majority of the 10 million unemployed Kenyans. William Ruto will also deliver cheap housing enabling youths to buy homes with mortgages as low as 10,000 shillings. This will enable youths to begin their lives and families earlier and create a more stable society.
William Ruto will also roll out free national wifi centered around public spaces but with last mile connection to the homes of Kenyans in every region. This will supercharge economic growth in the digital and creative sector because Kenyans are already the most tech-savvy youth in Africa.
Kenyan digital skills are in high demand internationally as evidenced by the 2 million Kenyan academic writers serving the international market. These young hustlers using their own laptops and their own internet bundles finally deserve a government that facilitates them to employ themselves and others and provides them capital to grow their business.
For too long the youth in Kenya have found themselves neglected, undermined and even brutalized in sorrowful incidents like the killings of the Kianjokoma brothers and the senseless violence in Kerio Valley. Kenya Kwanza finally has a plan to end rampant police brutality.
Under Rigathi Gachagua’s leadership, there will be fewer interactions between the police and the youth who already feel over-policed. If the Kianjokoma brothers did not encounter the police that fateful night in Embu, they would certainly be alive today and waiting to vote like all other Kenyans. Rigathi Gachagua will also oversee an overhaul of the Police service to ensure that they have friendly relations with the public, that they are trustworthy and are well paid to end the culture of bribes.
These policies make the 2022 general election the easiest decision Kenyans have ever had to make. In UDA the youth finally have a party that represents them and has a plan to make Kenya prosperous for everybody and to restore the dignity of every Kenyan, starting with the youth. On the morning of August 9th,at 6 am, every youth who is a registered voter has the sacred duty to deliver the economic liberation of our republic both for today and the generations that come.
Above all, the youth must shun any leaders that want to destroy their future by inciting them to violence. It is the youth who are misused and it will be the youth who suffer if there is chaos, so let us vote peacefully and live well with our fellow Kenyans.
