I Wont Allow Split of Trans-Nzoia County-Governor Natembeya
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has vowed to protect the borders of Trans Nzoia County in order to continue uniting all tribes residing in the area.
The governor told off those who want some wards and constituencies hived off from Trans Nzoia so as to create Mount Elgon County.
Last week,a section of leaders from the Sabaot community in Trans Nzoia had suggested that Endebess and Saboti constituencies should be added to Mount Elgon constituency to form the new county of Mount Elgon.
Governor Natembeya made the sentiments in kitale on Wednesday during the 20th anniversary of the late vice president Kijana Wamalwa.
The governor wondered why those leaders were fighting for the new county and yet they have a good representation in Trans Nzoia County.
“I want to make this one very clear today. My deputy comes from your community, you have the senator and the women representative.I also have the CECMs and chief officers from your community”noted the governor.
The governor added that those calling for splitting Trans Nzoia are self centred with an aim of dividing peace loving Trans Nzoia communities.
“I don’t reject the establishment of new counties in this country, but don’t touch Trans Nzoia because this is where every community has a place”said Natembeya.Let us be here and love each other.
The function was attended by the host Eugene Wamalwa, former presidential candidate prof. George Wajackoya, former Murang’a governor Mwangi Wairia,Deputy governor philomena Kapkory among other leaders.
Earlier, the governor presided over the renaming of the new County Referral Hospital to Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital and later led other leaders for the planting of trees in kitale town.
