Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has launched ‘Koti Care’
He said this will ensure a better healthcare, a vision deeply ingrained in the Nation’s constitution and harmoniously aligned with the commitments clearly defined in his Nguzo Kumi plan.
“The free medical camp, themed “Koti Care: Ensuring Quality Services for All,” signifies a pivotal milestone and marks the commencement of an important step to the beneficiaries. Our mission is centered on extending healthcare services to the most vulnerable members of our society, ” Governor Bii said.
He stated his commitment to forging partnerships with institutions and development partners, while aiming to enhance both the availability and accessibility of healthcare services.
“This pledge finds profound resonance in the free medical camp taking place today in the open fields of Langas Ward and specifically targets the elderly population aged 70 and above, orphaned and vulnerable children, individuals with disabilities, and the wider public, ” he added.
He noted that In this noble endeavour, a diverse team of medical specialists, including orthopedic surgeons, obstetricians and gynecologists, general physicians, pediatricians, ear, nose, and throat specialists, as well as general surgeons, have joined forces from both our county’s staff and private facilities in our town.
“My administration is dedicated to providing quality healthcare to every resident, embracing the ethos of a healthy society. To this end, our facilities are equipped personnel and drugs, amplifying our focus on preventive and promotive healthcare services, ” he said.
Governor Bii Alia’s Koti says when he assumed office, he revitalized the revolving pharmacy fund, concurrently ensuring equitable distribution of medications across all healthcare facilities.
“This transformative agenda effectively made it easy for distributon of drugs while dispensing the initial methods of central warehousing system for all medicines, ” he said.
He said in the 138 healthcare facilities, there has been robust infrastructure development, innovative health products and technologies, and the augmentation of our workforce to meet the surging demands of the health sector.
“In addition, we have extended the reach of free medical check-ups to encompass the most vulnerable segments of our society, ” he said.
He said that going forward, the rotational nature of the medical camp will be instituted, traversing all six sub-counties and our journey commenced today in Kapseret Sub-county, and by year-end, he anticipate having presided over similar medical camps in each sub-county.
“I urge the health department to sustain its vigilant commitment to duty, aligning seamlessly with the needs of our citizens. A concerted approach is pivotal, particularly in our collective efforts to curb the escalation of non-communicable diseases that imperil our county, ” he said.
Chief officer Clinical Services Paul Ongeti Wangwe says their aim is to ensure that resident get quality health care services at their door step.
“Governor Bii is committed to ensuring that all facilities across the county have enough personell and drugs, ” he said.
