Governor Bii’s Administration to Provide NHIF to Persons Living With Disabilities
Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health Dr. Joyce Sang has hinted at plans by the County Government of Uasin Gishu to provide NHIF to all persons living with disabilities in the county.
Speaking during the distribution of assistive devices to the PLWDs in Ng’enyilel ward, Dr. Sang said those yet to be enrolled in the National Health Insurance will be helped by the county.
She also asked them to make use of the ambulance whenever they were in need.
“Be your own eyes. If there’s any problems, report to relevant authorities,” the CO said.
Over 20 persons with disabilities in Murgusi, Osorongai and ChepkemeI areas in Ng’einyilel Ward, Turbo sub county benefited with the assistive devices.
On his part, Director Social Protection Meshack Chemwor thanked Governor Jonathan Bii for allocating funds to help persons with disabilities.
He also asked persons with disabilities to use the assistive devices in their day to day activities and to build themselves.
Director Chemwor also gave thanks to the area MCA for forming groups for the PLWDs so that they can also get help from other Departments.
The Member of County Assembly Ng’enyilel Ward Benjamin Natui noted that persons living with disability are disproportionately excluded in many areas and but noted that the county government was making every effort to empower them for meaningful participation in development.
