A section of businessmen in Uasin Gishu now wants the County Government of Uasin Gishu to improve the drainage system.
Speaking to the press they said during rainy there is always flooding along Trocadero Street making them count loses.
“We have been subjected to losses by the current flooding, especially where we are working from because when it rains heavily, we are forced to close our businesses early so that the floods cannot tamper with our goods, therefore, a low output. We want governor Jonathan Bii to act at speed to improve the system,” said Kiplagat
They said water stagnation as a result of the ground`s inability to hold much water, leaves a conducive working environment.
“Once the rainwater has flooded, a portion of it remains stagnant therefore as time moves, the water acquires an Odour which deprives our comfort and that of our customers, driving them away,” added Kiplagat.
They said when water is in motion; it sweeps garbage over and brings about blockage of the drainage tunnels.
They, however, acknowledge the efforts by the County Government garbage collection unit saying they are doing a good job in town.
“We are thankful to the county government due to its intervention and due to the initiative of garbage collection but we would wish to have them collect the garbage more often and increase the number of drainage tunnels. The solution to problems lies on the initiatives and measures the government shall lay down,” added Kiplagat.
