Bill Gates Meets Council of Governors
The Council of Governors held a Consultative meeting with Philanthropist, Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Council and Mr. Bill Gates discussed areas of partnership in the sectors of Health, Agriculture, Climate Change, and Knowledge management for improved service delivery.
The Council of Governors has lauded the efforts of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Kenya and welcomed the move to set up a regional office in Nairobi.
The discussion centered on the deployment of technology and innovations to address primary healthcare such as capacity building for CHVs, enhancing food security and building community resilience to climate change; strengthening extension services; co-creation of projects with Counties and the Council; smart Agriculture; measurement of outcomes in devolved sectors.
Council of Governors Chair, H.E Anne Waiguru reiterated the commitments of County Governments in championing devolution for effective service delivery and urged all our partners including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to work closely with the Counties.
The Council recommended for enhanced direct partnership with the Foundation for effective delivery of its mandate of knowledge and best practice sharing.
Further, the council has also recommended bringing to scale innovations that have been successful in other similar jurisdictions.
