Bungoma DG Calls For Speedy Investigations Into The Kaptama Killings
Following an insecurity incident at Kaptama Market, Mt Elgon Sub County, where a man was shot dead and another one sustaining injury after a robbery spree, Bungoma Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany has strongly condemned the heinous act, while calling on the security apparatus to speed up investigations.
Addressing residents at the crime scene, Mbatiany noted that Mt Elgon has since been njoying peace and serenity and the sudden insecurity reminds the region of the ugly past.
“Our people cannot continue wallowing in fear. We can’t be terrorized day in day out.The police need to move with speed to ensure suspects are nubbed and face the full force of the law.We won’t relent until justice is served,” she said.
Mbatiany urged residents to be more vigilant while reaffirming that the County Government of Bungoma has rolled out the street lighting project and that all markets across the County will be lit to enhance security and towards realization of a 24 hour economy for residents in league with Governor Lusaka’s manifesto of improving livelihoods.
“We have rolled out the street lighting project across the County, and in all market places to fast track economic empowerment for our residents.As we provide a conducive environment for development, we also need to be firm in fighting insecurity”, She noted.
The Deputy County Boss further stated that the County Government will collaborate with the National Government on matters of security for the well-being of residents as they engage in economic growth.
