County, Colgate Trains Health Care Service Providers on Oral Health Care
In a bid to ensure that all the residents in the region are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to promote oral health care, the Department of Health Services has put up structures to ensure that oral hygiene is adhered to.
The County Government of Uasin Gishu in partnership with Colgate has taken a significant step towards improving the oral health care of its residents and by recognizing the importance of oral hygiene in overall health, Governor Bii’s administration has initiated a program that aims to create awareness and provide training to caregivers nurses, public health officers and clinicians who will then spread the knowledge to the community.
By prioritizing oral health care, the Department of Health Services is taking a proactive approach toward improving the overall well-being of its residents since oral health has often been neglected leading to various dental diseases and other health complications.
Speaking during the training, Chief Officer for Clinical Services Dr. Paul Wangwe expressed his commitment to ensuring that all the health care providers in the county receive comprehensive training on oral health care therefore understanding the significance of oral health in preventing diseases and improving overall quality of life.
“By empowering service providers with this information the County Government hopes to create a ripple effect where residents can benefit from the expertise and guidance of healthcare professionals,” says Dr Wangwe.
The program aims to train 200 providers on the fundamentals of oral health care that includes; mouth, teeth and diseases thus equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to educate and guide residents in maintaining good oral hygiene practices.
