County Disburses Ksh 13.3 Million To Small Holder Businesses

Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa has launched the programme of disbursing KShs13.3 Million to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise traders in Kakamega County to boost their businesses.

In an event held at the County Headquarters on Monday, Governor Barasa said plans are underway to train Women, People With Disabilities and youths from across the County on the choices of ventures with high returns.

This programme is among the strategies put in place by Governor Barasa’s administration to ensure realization of the pillar of wealth creation for the people of Kakamega County. The ultimate vision of the Kakamega County Microfinance Agency is to have an established bank.

During the same forum, in earnest to guarantee food security in Kakamega County, Governor Barasa directed Sub-County Agricultural Officers and Sub-County Administrators to prepare for the upcoming distribution of the County’s subsidized Mavuno fertilizer in readiness for the planting season. One bag of the County subsidized fertilizer will retail for Ksh 2,950/-.

The Governor also instructed the in-charge Chief Officer for Roads to traverse the entire County and take note of the different transport infrastructures that will require construction and/or upgrading in all the 12 Sub-Counties by the County Government.

Later in the day the County boss led the Executive arm of his Government in revising the Kakamega County Annual Development Plan for Financial Year 2023-24 being the first extraction for projects implementation from the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023-27. The revised document will be presented to the County Assembly for discussion and approval before execution by the Executive.
