Governor Bii Launches Essential Promoter Kits

Cheboin Care unit in Ilula was recently recognized as Kenya’s top-performing community hub by the Ministry of Health, underscoring the excellence across domains and deserved the commendation and support therefore, Primary care networks and Community Health Promoters play a pivotal role in providing essential attention to the communities.

Speaking during the launch of essential promoter kits for 2004 community health promoters, Governor Jonathan Bii unveiled another major stride in his health agenda.

“Aligned with my Nguzo kumi Manifesto, this initiative emphasizes bottom-up strategies to combat diseases and improve healthcare access.

…the fully-trained promoters, supervised by qualified healthcare workers, will now attend to residents at home, offering preventive and promotive health services,” said Bii.

The County Boss also said that each promoter, catering to 100 households, will conduct home health screenings, eliminating the need for residents to travel for basic healthcare needs thus enhancing a transformative shift that aligns well with citizen-centric service delivery of his administration.

“The World AIDS Day, under the theme *Let Communities Lead*, mirrors our County’s initiatives by engaging key populations, networks of people living with HIV, long-distance truck drivers, and those in prisons,” added the County Boss.

Today’s launch and distribution of care kits for the community Health Promoters (CHPs) seeks to empower the communities in preventive healthcare by supporting HIV/AIDS targets therefore, the need to embrace initiatives like the Triple Threat Initiative, involving women opinion leaders, religious figures, and community gatekeepers in addressing new HIV infections, SGBV, and unintended pregnancies.

County Assembly Member of Kipsomba Hon. Mary Goretty who represented Chair Health Committee Hon. Rebecca Magut urged the Community Health Promoters to support those infected with the disease to avoid the spread of the infection.

Agriculture County Executive Committee Member Edward Sawe called on the residents to ensure that they conduct frequent checkups and adhere to proper nutrition.

Public Service Management Chief Officer Ambrose Tarus noted that 1,112 staff turned in for the annual wellness screening at the County Headquarters.

Present were County Executives Eng. Martha Cheruto, Janet Kosgei, Chief of Staff Nicholas Chepkwony, Chief Officers, Turbo Deputy County Commissioner Charles Kihia among other top officials.
