Governor Rotich’s Government Launches Malezi Bora Initiative
The County Department of Health today launched the Malezi Bora initiative in Chepkorio Health Centre, Keiyo South in an event presided over by Sports,Youth, Children & Social Services CEC Purity Koima.
The initiative seeks to improve the health and nutrition of mothers and children.
Koima said the County faces challenges including stunting, wasting and malnutrition among children.
She however said the administration of Governor Wisley Rotich seeks to end these health challenges through his Afya Bora campaign.
“We have decided to take such programmes where the people are because as you know our boss is Governor wa Raia,” she said.
The campaign focused on expectant & lactating women, children under five and women of reproductive age.
The target group were given nutrition supplements, they went through training and counseling, children were dewormed among other interventions.
The event was organized by the County with support from partners including Nutrition International (NI).
Present were Health Chief Officers Caroline Magut and Jeremiah Chirchir, County Director of Nutrition Priscilla Koima among other health staff.
