LUKOLIS TRADERS ELECT A NEW MARKET MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Traders at Lukolis market in Teso South Sub County have finally elected a new Market Management Committee after one year of interim representation.

The committee which will serve for two years will be led by Mr John Ong’ala as chairperson and men representative, Godfrey Ekapolon (Secretary), Everlyne Atieno (Women representative) and Dickson Ojamada (Youth).

The team will be responsible for allocation of trading space, ensure proper sanitation and all market requirements are in place, foster legitimate trade as well as security among other roles.

The Acting Director of Trade Mr. Hudson Sireka who presided over the elction, expressed his gratitude to the traders for conducting a fair and free election.

“We need leaders who are proactive to discharge their duties proficiently and ensure there is order and proper service delivery to traders in the market as well as act as a link between the people and the County Government,” he said.

The Director Revenue Theophilus Chitechi who was accompanied by his Deputy Mr. James Okale, urged the committee to discharge its duties diligently to ensure that the County is able to generate revenue from the market going forward, he also revealed that revenue officers will work hand in hand with the new management to ensure they generate revenue to facilitate government operations to deliver proper services to the people.

Mr Ong’ala promised to work hand in hand with the county government to ensure that there is development at the market.
