Men Urged to Go For Cancer Screening
Kakamega First Lady Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa has challenged men to get screened for prostrate cancer in a bid to fight the killer disease.
Prof. Kassily who last month launched cervical cancer screening awareness for health care providers at Kakamega County General Hospital also encouraged residents and health workers to create awareness of cancer through Word Of Mouth Announcing Network (WOMAN) slogan which she invented. Further, she asked women and girls to embrace cervical cancer screening, HPV vaccine and treatment; the three tools she stated, were available in the elimination of cervical cancer.
The County First Lady was speaking when she joined other Lake Region Economic Block (LREB) First Ladies in commemorating World Cancer Day at Webuye County Hospital in Bungoma County.
This year’s theme: “Close The Care Gap” is a multi-year (2022, 2023 and 2024) campaign which focuses on addressing exposure, engagement and opportunities to meet global awareness of Cancer.
Kakamega County was awarded a certificate for being the second best County in HPV vaccination among LREB counties in 2022.
