Partner with VTCs to ease learning process; Education CO to communities
There is need for communities around to partner and collaborate with vocational training centers to enhance learning activities in the institutions.
County Education Chief Officer Susan Ngera called on community leaders to be ambassadors of the skills transfer programs offered in VTCs across the county by advocating for higher enrolments.
Ms Ngera noted that it was only through concerted efforts that the vocational training education sub sector will flourish and have massive skill transfer to the youths who will in turn put the knowledge into real practice.
“We call upon all stakeholders in the education sector to help scale up skills transfer programs offered at the VTCs across the county since the world needs this skills and those who provide the services earn better returns as a result and thereby improve their livelihoods,” she said.
The CO said this at an education stakeholders forum held at the Koros VTC in Kwanza where she called on members of the clergy to also propagate the message to their audiences.
She however noted that compared to the previous years, enrolments at the VTCs had improved adding that there is still room for more students to fill up the slots.
On his part, County Director of Vocational Training Mr. Eliud Lusweti affirmed that the infrastructural programs initiated by the county administration to boost the sector were smoothly ongoing.
Calls by the community to have more instructors recruited to reinforce the work of the existing ones was answered with Ms Ngera pledging to work with the County Public Service Board to employ more staff.
