Televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero Released on Sh 3 million Bond
The New Life church preacher Ezekiel Odero has been released on a KES 3 million or a cash bail of KES 1.5 million.
He had stayed in custody for seven days.
Pastor Ezekiel was accused of having links to the starvation cult leader Paul Mackenzie, who is still in custody facing terrorism charges over the deaths of more than 109 people at Shakahola forest in Malindi.
Shanzu Senior Principal Magistrate Joe Omido ruled out the state’s application of holding pastor Ezekiel for 30 More days.
However, the court has ordered Pastor Odero to report to a police station once every week and was also ordered not to supposed to talk about anything about the Shakahola issue.
Danstan Omari, one of Odera’s lawyers said that they object to such tactics by the state “The responded should be allowed to go home or a charge sheet be produced,” said Omari.
The Mavueni preacher is accused of conspiracy to murder, crimes against humanity, abduction, child cruelty, and money laundering.
