Trans Nzoia County Governor leads review of agriculture policies and achievements
Trans Nzoia County George Natembeya, presided over a review exercise of the county’s maize and dairy policies at Kisumu Hotel today. The exercise was hosted by the Agriculture Department and attended by the executive and officials from the department.
The event focused on presenting and discussing various issues, including an overview of the policies and coordination bill, County Agriculture Sector Steering Committee (CASSCOM) strategic plan, draft of maize and dairy policy, an overview of the National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP), the Agriculture Sector Development Support program (ASDSP), and the Agriculture Department’s strategic plan.
During his address, Governor Natembeya emphasized the need for responsibility and accountability among all stakeholders to ensure that the people of Trans Nzoia County benefit from the respective program projects. He urged the officials to work together to develop policies that protect farmers, increase food production, and boost the county’s economy.
Agriculture CEC Phanice Khatundi also spoke at the event, expressing her commitment to developing better agriculture policies that protect farmers and promote economic growth. She emphasized the importance of involving stakeholders in the policy-making process to ensure that all views are considered.
