Uasin Gishu County Primary Health Care Networks Implementation Journey on Course

The County Government of Uasin Gishu, under the leadership of Governor Jonathan Bii is committed to scaling up and improving the delivery of primary health care services to its residents through accessible and quality healthcare.

Speaking in his office during a discussion on the implementation journey of the primary health care networks, Health Services County Executive Dr. Sam Kotut noted that they are committed to embracing community-driven strategy Primary Health Care Networks (PCNs) to address the diverse needs of every individual.

Dr Kotut said that they will carry out sensitization campaign to educate the public about the importance and benefits of the PCNs by raising awareness about the range of services that will be available within the networks and the positive impact they will have on the overall health of the community.

“Our implementation journey will entail a baseline assessment and mapping of health facilities where they will identify hubs, mini hubs and spokes that are within the proximity of residents,”says Dr Kotut.

Clinical Services Chief Officer Dr Paul Wangwe noted that with the community health promoters, residents will be provided with basic healthcare services, health education, and preventive measures within their respective communities therefore improve health outcomes and reduce the burden on formal healthcare facilities.

The hubs will be a robust referral system where individuals requiring specialized care or services beyond the scope of primary healthcare can be efficiently attended to without travelling longer distances to search for the services
