What Reuben Kigame Want His Supporters to Do on the Ballot Paper
A presidential aspirant on an independent Party ticket Reuben Kigame has asked his supporters to include his name on the ballot paper in the August polls.
Speaking to the press Kigame said this will ensure that he is on the ballot after IEBC denied him a chance.
“I want to call pon my supporters across the country to vote for me by adding my name on the ballot as the fifth candidate on the presidential ballot paper and tick it as it is required by the law,” said Kigame while speaking to the press.
Kigame however told his supporters to vote for other candidates in other positions rightfully and peacefully.
“We want to urge Kenyans to turn out in large numbers and vote next week, it is your democratic right, In addition, there are several candidates running on other political seats please vote for them, however when it comes to the presidential ballot we encourage you to exercise your democratic rights by voting for us in this way take your pen and write Reuben Kigame on the presidential ballot as the fifth option and Mark it proudly “Kigame affirmed.
He says this will send a message to IEBC that they have a right to choose the Kenya they want and will be helping the team to reject injustice by voting only for the four options.
However, he vowed to move to the supreme court to challenge the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission( IEBC) for not performing credible free, and fair nomination.
Kigame noted that he will be going to file a case against Wafula Chebukati as the chair of the commission saying IEBC was discriminatory and biased, and it has reduced options to tolerate by choosing two candidates, referring to Raila Odinga and William Ruto the deputy president who claims they are unfit to lead the country.
“The process is not fair for the IEBC to impose leaders on Kenyans but instead should have allowed them a chance to vote for leaders of their choice. The commission has successfully ensured I will not be on the ballot even after the High Court ruling that allowed me to be on the presidential ballot,” said Kigame.
He says despite him having fully cooperated with the commission and his signature from 26 countries was not received after he took them to the Bomas.
“I was harassed and knocked out of the ballot while the other four candidates were given exceptional treatment and dispute resolutions committee for the commission had shockingly drawn a conclusion that he wanted special treatment as a person with disabilities instead of them following the constitution,” he added.
He said he is still going to run for the presidency and hopefully the Supreme court ruling will deliver justice to him
