Eldoret DCI officers Arrest man involved in Car theft Syndicate
Sleuths from the directorate of criminal investigation in Uasin Gishu County Wednesday engaged in a shootout with a robbery with violence suspect who was armed with a pistol believed to have been stolen from a police officer.
The Uasin Gishu County Criminal Investigation officer Peter Kimulwo said , Dci officers acting on a tip off invaded the suspects home where they shortly engaged in a shoot out before the suspect surrendered,
“Our highly trained officers were able to corner the suspect who has been identified as Henry Kibet and who is believed to be operating a syndicate that has been involved in cases of carjacking , car break-ins as well as other serious crimes of violence with robbery”Said kimulwo.
The Dci officers have identified the stolen pistol to have belonged to inspector Emmanuel Rono who is stationed at Ruiru town in Kiambu County,
“The inspector was on assignment in Eldoret before his firearm went missing from his car early this Month ,and it was reported missing on 2nd of November,however acting on a tip off from members of the Public we managed to trace the suspect at his hideout,”Noted Kimulwo.
The Suspect is said to have identified other members of his syndicate who have been operating illegal activities within and outside of Eldoret,
“We want to assure Kenyans that this car theft syndicate will come to an end very soon, their days are numbered, they must be brought to book,Said The Uasin Gishu Dci boss .
According to security officers the county has had an upsurge of criminal activities and more so cases of robbery with violence .
