I Will Transform the Livestock Sector Once Elected – Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial Aspirant Sarah Serem
Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Sarah Serem now says she will transform the livestock sector once elected.
She says transformation of the livestock sector is pivotal in pushing our Transformative agenda foward.
“This will lead to creating substantial opportunities for agricultural development, poverty reduction, food security gains and improved human nutrition. The sector will also empower rural women and youth,” said Serena.
She is commited to partner with local and international partners so that have a county feeds manufacturing and processing plant.
“For so long the Livestock business has been neither sustainable nor viable , why? The cost of production vis’a’vis market prices of products. The high cost of production is mainly attributed to the cost of feeds which is unbearably high,” she added.
She says the plant will fully be automated to ensure accuracy in production and reduce the chances of human error.
” I am focused on producing high quality feeds that are affordable by our farmers in uasingishu. We shall then partner with atleast 20,000 farmers within our county through contract farming to supply Raw material ( maize, soya, wheat, sunflower, sorghum) to our 10 tone per hour feedmill at very good prices as an equal buyer,” she added.
She reiterated that the plant will atleast create 200 jobs and other opportunites for the youth.
